Filmmaking Workshop By Internationally Acclaimed Thai Director, Yongyoot Thongkongtoon
Internationally acclaimed Thai Director, Yongyoot Thongkongtoon, was in Kuala Lumpur for a Filmmaking Workshop at GSC Mid Valley on Tuesday, 20 July 2010. A total of 150 successful registrants attended the full-day Filmmaking Workshop at GSC Mid Valley which started at 10:30 am with the screening of Yongyoot's latest movie, BEST OF TIMES. This was followed by the Director sharing his vast experience under the topic "A-Z from Idea to the Big Screen to International". The participants who comprised of both local and foreign students, as well as, industry professionals gained invaluable insights during the Workshop and the subsequent Q&A session. Online registration to the free Workshop and Screening, which started on 12 July 2010 at www.gscmovies.com.my on a first-come-first-serve basis, received overwhelming response, resulting in some registrants having to be turned away.

Yongyoot is best known for "The Iron Ladies", a volleyball comedy which sold worldwide and won oth the Teddy Awards (Berlin International Film Festival 2000) and Silver Medal : Discovery Award (Toronto International Film Festival 2000). He also directed, amongst others, "The Iron Ladies II", "Metrosexual", "4bia" ("Happiness" episode), with "Best of Times" being his latest movie. He is also a prolific producer, with a number of internationally and commercially successful movies to his credit, like "Alone", "4bia" and "Coming Soon", all of which were released in cinemas in Malaysia.

The Filmmaking Workshop was presented by GSC International Screens and Panasonic in conjunction with the theatrical release of "Best of Times", which opens exclusively at GSC International Screens in GSC Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion and GSC 1 Utama on 29 July 2010. "Best of Times" is Yongyoot's first romantic film and was shot on a HD Panasonic camera. The movie is about two couples and how even the briefest of encounters with true love can leave one with the most memorable lifelong memories.
