What is an actors hot list without the mention of hottie tottie, man dime Takeshi Kaneshiro! The multicultural, multilingual actor was born in Taiwan to Japanese and Taiwanese parents. A lot of you probably didn’t know but Takeshi actually started in the entertainment industry as a singer/songwriter. He released 10 albums in total which consist of both mandarin and Cantonese albums. As is common with Taiwanese pop stars, Takeshi Kaneshiro transitioned into the world of acting. Abandoning the usual pop fodder, Takeshi opted for quirky character roles in Taiwanese comedies. He then went on to star in a number of Hong Kong films including his work with acclaimed director Wong Kar-wai in Chungking Express and Fallen Angels who hails Takeshi for his depth and versatility in acting. Takeshi’s full-fledged stardom eventually came with his luminous performances in international blockbusters such as Zhang Yimou’s House of Flying Daggers, John Woo’s Red Cliff, and The Warlords. This December, we are anticipating Takeshi’s reunion with the acclaimed action film director John Woo, this time in The Crossing, an epic drama about love, lost and a steamship. Despite his fame, Takeshi Kaneshiro has managed to stay off the media spot light. He has been quoted for saying “If one day I get married and have kids, I will probably be one of those men who really care for the family. I will eat at home every day, and help with the chores and take care of the children.” Wouldn’t you be just envious of whoever ends up with this perfect husband material?
