TVB Series Return of the Cuckoo Romantic Movie Sequel

When the TVB series Return of the Cuckoo aired in 2000, it was such a huge hit that helped propel casts Charmaine Sheh and Julian Chong to fame, securing their spots as one of TVB’s most beloved onscreen pairings. 15 years later today, we shall see the continuation of the series in the romantic movie sequel that everyone has been excited about since the announcement last year.

Return of the Cuckoo Romantic Movie in Malaysia

Return of the Cuckoo was one of the highest rated TVB series in the year 2000, reaching a peak of 40 viewership points. The tragic romance tells of the lead Man Cho (played by Julian Cheung), a mute who suffered under his mother’s attempt to kill him and ultimately abandoning him. Fortunately for the hero, he was picked up and fostered by his mother’s best friend, Chu Sa Kiu (Nancy Sit) and was raised alongside Sa Kiu’s daughter, Chuk Kwan Ho (Charmaine Sheh). Kwan Ho, a tomboy who grew up with Man Cho treated him as a beloved brother up until her relationship with a renowned reporter, Szto Lai-Sun (Steven Ma) awakened the true feelings between the two foster siblings. No thanks to Man Cho’s inferiority complex and Sa Kiu’s aggressive urging to push Kwan Ho to move to the US, believing she was better off with her wealthy father and Szto Lai-Sun who she ends up marrying, the Man Cho – Kwan Ho relationship begins with a precipitous downward spiral.
