Veterans still have the moves in these latest movies

This summer sees the comeback of veteran actors in these upcoming movies. Local films provider, GSC Movies is showing these two latest movies in Malaysia: Danny Collins and Lost & Love. First off, Danny Collins sees the return to the big screen for Al Pacino. Famous for his tough mobster roles such as The Godfather and Scarface, this round he plays rock star Danny Collins who has lost his direction in life after the glory years has gone by.

A new path appears when he discovers a 40-year old letter written to him by famous Beatles star, John Lennon. Guided by his new direction in life, Danny seeks to reignite his musical strings and rekindle his relationship with his son, and perhaps open a new door to find true love once again. Al Pacino’s performance as a bygone rock star that is searching for new zest in life alongside a stellar cast (Annette Bening and Christopher Plummer are the other seasoned veterans in the show) definitely pulls the right strings. Danny Collins is certainly a new movie worth watching for its human values, perfect for those looking for some soul-searching inspiration.

Andy Lau heads the cast in Lost & Love, one of Hong Kong’s latest movies about child abduction. Lost & Love sees farmer Lei Zekuan (Andy Lau) searching for his long-lost son, Lei Da for 14 years. Having lost his son when he was only 2 years old, Lei Zekuan has been traveling north and south on his beat-up motorbike carrying a banner with his baby boy’s picture. Lost & Love is the brainchild of Peng Sanyuan, who also makes her directorial debut. Carefully crafted to create awareness about human trafficking in China, Lost & Love tells it all from the angle of the victims, their parents and also the traffickers. With the beautiful landscapes of China’s less glamorous rural town as a backdrop, this show opens up different stories and emotions at every shot and will keep you at your seats till the end.

Perhaps the return of these gracefully aging actors will see a comeback for our own veteran actors in the Malaysia film industry. Danny Collins and Lost & Love are brought in by GSC Movies this April and May.
