New Movie Release: The Boy

Horror movies have taught us to fear many things e.g. clowns, little children, hitchhikers, taking a shower etc. One thing they’ve taught us for decades, a recurrent theme in old and new horror movies alike, is that dolls can be downright traumatic. After the dolls in Don Mancini’s slasher franchise Child’s Play, James Wan’s horror films The Conjuring and Dead Silence, we can now add another new movie release to this creepy doll horror sub-genre. The Boy, a new movie release this week, from the director of The Devil Inside, will star Lauren Cohen (aka Maggie) of The Walking Dead.

Greta (Lauren Cohen) is a young American who takes up a job as a nanny in a remote English village. She arrives only to discover that the family’s 8-year old Brahms, turns out to be a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years ago. After handing Greta a list of strict rules not to be broken (we all know she’s going to) to keep Brahms happy, the parents leave Greta in a gargantuan mansion along with the doll. Right away, Greta starts breaking the rules thinking the family is just deranged with grief, but she soon finds out that things aren’t always the way it seems. Strange, violent events starts happening all over the house leading Greta to think that Brahms might in fact be very much alive. Now that she has broken the rules, will she make it out of the house alive?

We are shuddering with excitement just things will play out for Greta in this new movie release The Boy. Catch this movie in cinemas January 18^th.
