The Foreigner tells the story of Quan, a Chinese restaurant owner living in Britain, who treasures his daughter.  One day, he drives her downtown to buy her a new dress. All of a sudden, the boutique store where his daughter was explodes, leaving Quan to mourn the loss of the only family he’s got left. He vows revenge for his daughter and stops at nothing to find the bombers.

The bomb was reportedly set off by politically-motivated terrorists. So Quan rushes to the police and asks for the names of the bombers, even offering them an enormous amount of money, but the police refuse. He then goes to speak with Liam Hennessy, a British government official, and again asks for the bombers names. Liam initially wonders why Quan was asking him but Quan shows him a piece of newspaper indicating that Liam used to be a part of the terrorist group IRA, who was being blamed for the bombing.

Liam refuses to speak which heightens Quan’s suspicions of him. So begins a cat-and-mouse chase of threats and bombs, with Quan relentlessly asking Liam for the bombers names and Liam refusing to give in. Will Quan be able to find justice for his daughter? The Foreigner is an action movie that stars an ensemble cast with Jackie Chan playing Quan, his first non-comedic Hollywood movie role in a long time. Alongside him is Pierce Brosnan, well known for playing James Bond, stars as Liam Hennessy. The film is directed by Martin Campbell who also directed Zorro and Casino Royale.
