The Hottest Trend In Latest Movies – POV

Films shot in the first-person perspective has been infused in the movie making craft fora while now; most notably in the found footage genre. What was once seen as fresh and ingenious, dragged on in the horror genre for so long, with mega franchises churning out new horror movies every year (Paranormal Activity ahem!), that it seems to have lost its luster. Love it or hate it, the genre provides many different ways to tell a story and found footage is only one of them. The next big thing is of course POV (Point-Of-View) with a number of the latest movies coming up adopting the style. With the growing hype, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a slew of Hollywood movies of the horror genre and also action movies start taking advantage of it.

This April, your local film provider GSC Movies takes you on a POV ride in the post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world of Pandemic. Pandemic switches between POV, found footage-esque security camera shots, and standard filming styles giving it a video game vibe complete with a first person shooter perspective (FPS) and cutscenes. Our main character, Rachel Nicholas’ Lauren is a doctor dispatched into a zombie infested Los Angeles. After a pandemic broke out, there are five stages of infection ranging from flu-like symptoms that can be cured when diagnosed early enough, a 28 Days Later rage period, a quasi-intelligent cannibalistic state, a dormant death-like phase, and finally the rampaging agile zombie stage reminiscent of World War Z. Teamed up with a driver, a soldier and a navigator, Rachel’s mission is to locate and save a group of survivors but with hidden agendas and mistrust among the team, their mission and their very lives are threatened as they take the virus head on. Much-anticipated for its survival horror POV treatment, Pandemic is one of the latest movies you can’t miss out on this April. Catch the movie this 14^th April and witness the horror first hand!
