Hungry for New Horror Movies? The Girl With All The Gifts is here with a Surprise
Still hungry for new horror movies? Get a fresh, new bite of the zombie genre in The Girl with All the Gifts, coming to cinemas on the 17th of November 2016! If you’re thinking that Train to Busan is the last good zombie movie this year, you’re in for a clever surprise in this new movie release, brought to you by your favourite movie company, GSC Movies!
Based on Mike Carey’s best seller novel of the same name, the film is set on a dystopian New England where humanity is plagued with a mutated fungal disease transforming people into “hungries”. While victims are mindless, flesh-eating, and violent, a small group of children seem to be immune to those effects. Although craving for flesh, they can still manage to think and feel. Thus, they are subjected to cruel experiments, spearheaded by the cold scientist Dr. Caldwell, in hopes of finding the cure. All of them attend classes but one girl stands out above the rest – Melanie. Smart, warm, and imaginative, she becomes an asset and the potential cure for this outbreak. When the base is attacked to its destruction, Melanie, together with her favourite teacher Miss Justineau, Dr. Caldwell, and Sgt. Parks manages to escape. However, more than the infected bites of the hungries, the real challenge of survival is the conflict of interests, beliefs, and morals between themselves. While Dr. Caldwell sees Melanie as nothing more than a body to dissect and Sgt. Parks treats Melanie like an untrustworthy monster, how will she be able to save humanity from extinction?
Directed by Colm McCarthy, The Girl with All the Gifts introduces Sennia Nanua as Melanie, a newcomer as brilliant as the character she’s playing. The film also stars Gemma Arterton as Miss Justineau, Glenn Close as Dr. Caldwell, and Paddy Considine as Sgt. Parks.
The season of new horror movies won’t be complete without zombies. For more than a decade, the zombie genre had been a contagious virus in the entertainment industry, infecting not just films, but TV shows, comics, and even games as well. These flesh-eating fiends are everywhere and if you think people are going to get tired of them, you’re wrong. You just can’t have enough zombies. Just look at all the hype about the Walking Dead and Train to Busan! But those are not the last of the good ones yet. Even with all the outstanding zombie films and TV shows, The Girl with All the Gifts stands out on its own clever way. Even the hard-to-please Rotten Tomatoes critics agree! Rating an impressive 83%, this is something you must see, even if you’re not a zombie fan.
