My Dad, My Hero – Jack Lim Takes Unprecedented Role as Drug Abuser Dad in “PAPA, COME HOME”

Kuala Lumpur, 21 Sept – Famed local celebrity and radio announcer Jack Lim is back in action and takes on an unprecedented role as a drug abuser father in PAPA, COME HOME, which will be released in cinemas nationwide this December. It is a breakthrough role for a shabby and dirty-looking Jack Lim in PAPA, COME HOME, who plays a troubled father who is confused in life and the decisions he makes for himself and his son. It is a breath of fresh air for the famed celebrity who is well known for his roles in comedies and the much adored “Ah Beng” character. In PAPA, COME HOME that touches the darker side of the city, Jack is joined by Jieying Tha, who also portrays a different image from her usual jovial self.

 

Producers The Film Engine, Multimedia Entertainment and Dreamax Production treated guests and members of the media with the first glimpse of PAPA, COME HOME’s teaser trailer and teaser poster in this filming wrap-up cum movie announcement dinner. Executive Producers Jack Lim and Datuk Steven Lim were present along with first-time movie director Nick Wong, and his co-stars Jieying Tha, 10-year-old child star Jayden Sow, radio DJs Jack Yap and Prem Shanker, Lenna Lim, Kenji Suwahii, Zuraini Kassim and Fancy Goh. The producers also presented the two theme songs of the movie entitled “Home” by Juztin Lan and Joe Chang, and “The Meaning of Happiness” by Jieying Tha.

 

PAPA, COME HOME is a black humour story of a father, Tong Bo and son, Tong Zai. The movie aims at that expressing the meaning of love between father and son. While parents try to teach their children all about life, their children teach them what life is all about. The story strives to reflect the dilemma of a father who struggles between his job in the underworld, his drug addiction and parental love. The dangers and negative impact of drugs to the society are highlighted. Emphasizing on the importance of child education & parental love, PAPA, COME HOME aims to promote the importance of tolerance, support & trust amongst family members.

 

PAPA, COME HOME is set to kick off a string of promotional activities and charity campaigns with meaningful messages in reflection of the movie. Jack Lim will lead his brood of cast in 30 road shows nationwide, kicking off on 11th November, with loads of fun games and activities, attractive prizes, as well as opportunity to get up-close and personal with the stars.

 

The movie will be working closely with schools to give away postcards for students to make their dedications to their “hero” figure. Students with the best dedications will walk away with a family trip, while their schools will be rewarded RM10,000 cash prize. Besides that, the movie is also working on a “grant a wish” campaign in support of underprivileged single families. This campaign will fit in perfectly for the year-end festive seasons and cultivate the spirit of giving.
