The Conman is an action-packed comedy and has presented a lot of machismo genre that made early 1990s’ Hong Kong movie gambling flicks so entertaining and fun to watch. Nick Cheung was casted as “Ronaldo”, which presented a classic aura but provides the laughter to balance it up with his playful character. From this, we can see a different Nick Cheung as a movie character. His fame was earlier built on Wong Jing’s comedy but has gradually switched for a more sombre role.

Keeper of darkness is a horror movie directed by Nick Cheung himself. This movie succeeds as a detective story with a touch of spectral romance as well as streetwise comedy. Nick Cheung casted as Wong Wing Fatt, who is a silver-haired exorcist with many tattoos around. In the movie, Wong Wing Fatt prefers to negotiate and interrogate with the wayward spirits. This is definitely one of the most interesting casting choices that Nick Cheung has participated in Hong Kong movies.

The White Storm is another action blockbuster starring Nick Cheung with other big movie stars. Although The White Storm is an action packed Hong Kong movie, it surprisingly contains its tender side as it involves subplots of some other touching elements. In this movie, Nick Cheung casted as Wai, who is an undercover operation against the notorious Thai drug lords. Nick Cheung has managed to throw his deadly stares when it’s needed, giving the movie a whole lot feel, which is very different from the comedy films he has participated in.
