Upcoming Novel Adapted Malaysian Movie: Pilot Cafe

The never-ending debate over movies adapted from novels has always been present because some of us may think that books when turned into motion pictures do not often do the stories any justice. It may be the case that novels carry much more detail and drama, but it’s one thing to read about romance and another to watch it on a silver screen. For instance, it is one thing to imagine a romantic setting and another to feast your eyes on the breathtaking sceneries of Central Anatolia, Turkey in the Malaysian movie Manisnya Cinta di Cappadocia. It is one thing to read about it and another to see a punchline play out in a romantic comedy. The bottom line between which medium tells the better story is ultimately up to you, the viewers.

When it comes to movie adaptations, the Malaysian film industry in recent years are picking up on the vast fan followings of the local romantic novels and adapting the novels into motion pictures. Recent titles of our locally produced movies adapted from romance novels include Lagenda Budak Setan 2, Ombak Rindu, and Manisnya Cinta di Cappadocia which have all fared well in our local box office. This month, your local movies distributor, GSC Movies has another Malaysian movie adapted from a best-selling romance novel installed for your viewing pleasure.

Pilot Cafe

Brought to you from the director and producers of Ombak Rindu, Pilot Café is based on Ahadiat Akashah’s best-selling romance novel of the same title. The story centres on a broken-hearted girl, Maya, who runs away from her home in the countryside to the bustling city of KL after a major breakup with her longtime boyfriend Rashid. In the city, she happens upon Mr. Perfect, Ameer who of course happens to be a player unappreciative of true love. However, everything changes when Ameer starts falling for Maya and is willing to take her under his care in her time of need. Traumatized by her heartbreak, Maya on the other hand is reluctant to devote her feelings. If you haven’t read the book, this Malaysian movie brought to you by the film distributor in Malaysia GSC Movies is one that combines some unique romance and twist ending tropes which we don’t want to spoil for you here. Catch Pilot Café for yourself in cinemas this 30th of April!
